On 28 January 2026, Graz was the hub for everything to do with the future of fibre-optic technology: The 2nd OFAA Innovation Day was all about the latest developments. For the BIK team, it was the perfect opportunity to whizz from Klagenfurt to Graz in just 41 minutes on the Koralmbahn and take part in this forward-looking event.
The event featured fascinating presentations and exciting insights into the latest technical innovations and trends in the fibre-optic sector. BIK Managing Director Peter Schark gave a talk on the synergy project combining fibre-optic and electricity – a currently unprecedented initiative in Carinthia. Vera Led, from BIK’s Technical and Project Management Department, was also among the speakers and presented ALPSiX – Carinthia’s first Internet Exchange Point, which is set to revolutionise the region’s digital infrastructure. A particularly valuable aspect was the opportunity for personal exchange with experts and colleagues from the industry, which opened up many new ideas and perspectives.
